According to Fox News, Governor Sarah Palin is Senator McCain’s choice as a running mate.  Please allow me to briefly toot my own horn but in an earlier posting on this blog Gov. Palin was my choice for the Republican VP slot.

I think given the circumstancesthis is the best choice.  For one thing it will mitigate much of Senator Obama’s bounce coming out of the Democratic Convention.  Second, I think a lot of Hillary Clinton supporters will now support Sen. McCain.  One reason is they get to vote for a women vice-president and if McCain wins, Hillary Clinton will almost certainly run again in 2012–something she would unlikely do if Sen. Obama wins.

As well, Senators Obama and Biden will be a little hesitant to attack her for fear of alienating the female vote, since Sen. Obama has (rightly or wrongly) that reputation when it came to the primary campaign with Senator Clinton.
